The pictures below show our Eco-corner in the rear churchyard and has to be seen to be beelieved! It also has to be heard because the song of the bees is amazing.
For information, the purple flower is called Phacelia and as well as being a beautiful wild flower, it is planted in fields to be used as a fertiliser on farms. Bees love it it and it also makes a fantastic cut flower. Phacelia is native to parts of the United States and Central America and has become naturalised in New Zealand. Its common names include scorpion weed, purple tansy, fiddle neck and fernleaf fiddle neck
The wildlife corner of the churchyard has changed so much in just 2 weeks with blue cornflowers, red clover and oxeye daisies appearing. We certainly do have a beautiful backdrop to our churchyard. It’s well worth a visit. Thanks to Jonathan Bowker and the volunteers who have worked so hard.
