Well, what a Scarecrow Festival we had – it was truly memorable once again and Blackrod folk did us proud. The thought, ideas and energy that went into creating the festival this year was amazing and the scarecrows started emerging on to the streets after a bit of early rain.
If you weren’t able to get round to see them all then log on to the church website and you can enjoy them all from the comfort of your own armchair!

Calendar 2020 This year we had some calendars for 2020 created showing last year’s exhibits – they are £5 each and available from St Katharine’s and the Library.
Over the weekend 900 people went through our library, Blackrod Sports & Community Centre was open and put on a range of activities, and Blackrod Town Council funded the minibus. Worzel Gummidge, along with Crow, Aunt Sally and Saucy Nancy entertained the crowds and donated £200 to the Festival funds – brilliant.
As George and I are now stepping down from organising the festival it was wonderful to meet the 40+ volunteers who turned up at the meeting in July to offer their services – I am sure there is a great possibility that the festival will be with us again on 4th and 5th July 2020! Let’s make it happen.
We are hoping to meet again in September so if you would like to know the details please contact us on jeanhibbert@virginmedia.com or 01204 691575.
Meantime a huge thank you to everyone who helped in any way throughout the village – St Katharine’s raised £2,000 for church funds, and the whole event raised just over £9,000 for the village.
For the Community We have £1,000 to give away from the sale of the programmes so if you can think of something we need in our community, let me know.
The Programme Raffle winners were:
* £100 – Sacha Holland
* £50 – Joan Trevena
* £25 – D Billington from Abram
Congratulations and thank you for your support.
Jean Hibbert.
