Saturday 6th – Sunday 7th July
Scarecrows are coming! We are all preparing for the Scarecrow Festival over the weekend 6th and 7th July and hoping for summer weather.
134 scarecrows have been registered, flyers and posters printed and we are now on with the programme. Thank you to all who have supported us in the past with selling programmes and helping out in church – we will be asking again very shortly!
Last year we paid for a minibus from Scarecrow Festival funds but the charity, Bolton Community Transport, have had their funding cut and this year the cost had doubled to £400.
However we are very grateful to Blackrod Town Council who have very generously agreed to step in and pay for the minibus to assist our less agile visitors to get around free of charge to see the scarecrows.
The minibus will leave from Playdays, travel down the village and around the main thoroughfares stopping at Blackrod Sports & Community Centre where visitors may get off, enjoy the facilities there, catch a later minibus or stroll back home.
This is a new initiative this year so we hope it works OK!.
Calling all exhibitors for the Scarecrow Festival – don’t forget to call in church on Tuesday 18th June to pick up your Scarecrow pack between 7.30pm and 8.30pm. If you can’t come along just ask a neighbour if they could collect it for you.
