Ladies who Lunch -a special thanks!

On behalf of the Blackrod Cemetery/Gardening group I would like to give heartfelt thanks to all members of “Ladies who Lunch”.

I was invited, nay summoned, by Janet Hollick to attend their August get together where I was presented with a very generous donation of £90 on behalf of the ladies, to go to help our voluntary group.

The people in our group were absolutely blown away by this very generous donation. We had just commissioned a plaque to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1st World War and had it installed at Blackrod cemetery. It is now proudly mounted on the wall of the cemetery chapel near to the cenotaph.

This generous donation will go a long, long way to paying for this plaque. Hopefully now when members of “Ladies who Lunch” visit or go past the cemetery they will be able to see the result of their generosity.

These ladies are so typical of the people of Blackrod who even when getting together for a meal and a chat, they are thinking of others. We are very lucky to live where we do and anything that can be done to make it even better can only be a good thing.

Many thanks, John Price

Next lunch will be at The Italian Orchard at Broughton, on Wednesday 17th October.  Numbers are limited to 20 so it’s a case of first come, first served.
