Nine of us set out from Birkacre Garden Centre as a steady drizzle began at the same time. However, we were soon into the tree cover of Yarrow Valley Country Park to protect us. Ignoring the playground swings we headed through the Nature Reserve and viewed the weir and salmon leap which were in full spate in view of all the recent rain!
We carried on alongside the River Yarrow through Drybones Wood (not very dry though!) and then through a field before descending to walk along the river, although we took the made up path rather than risking the muddier side! We took a coffee break alongside the road leading to Duxbury Golf Course and by this time the sun had come out, enabling us to top up our tans!
Back down the riverside path then took us up onto higher ground through woodland onto open ground and then onto Burgh Lane South from where we then descended back to the river. The final leg took us round the two lodges at Yarrow Valley where it made a pretty picture in the sunshine. Lunch was taken back at the Birkacre to round off a pleasant day. Dave
