We are now planning for the national Heritage Open Day on Saturday 9th September when St Katharine’s Church will be open from 10-4pm.
There will be lots of information, photographs and special things to look at, so do call in during the day and enjoy a browse.
The Tower Ringing Room will be open in the afternoon and you can go across to the Library to see the collection of local history material, and meet members of Blackrod History group to see their display of local history photpgrpahs and articles of interest..
You can see the full list of places open for the weekend by visiting the website at
If anyone would like to cover an hour or so in church to be a steward please have a word with Jean Hibbert.
You may remember reading in August that we were asking if anyone knew the whereabouts of the quilt from 1905 which had the names of the parishioners of the day stitched on to it. We are very grateful to the family of Hilda Overton who had this quilt and have now donated it to St Katharine’s – thank you so much. It will be on show on Heritage Day, with the two other signature quilts from 1993, and 2005. Come and see if your name is included!
