We are now planning for the national Heritage Open Day on Saturday 9th September when St Katharine’s Church will be open from 10-4pm.
There will be lots of information, photographs and special things to look at, so do call in during the day and enjoy a browse.
The Tower Ringing Room will be open in the afternoon and you can go across to the Library to see the collection of local history material, and meet members of Blackrod History group to see their display of local history photpgrpahs and articles of interest..
You can see the full list of places open for the weekend by visiting the website at
If anyone would like to cover an hour or so in church to be a steward please have a word with Jean Hibbert.
Can you help?
We remember Hilda Overton had a lovely quilt from 1905 with names of the congregation stitched on to it. Hilda lent it to us for the Flower Festival exhibition in 1993 – and it was a fascinating centrepiece.
Whoever is now the custodian, please could you contact Mary Pryle on 01204 697763, and would it be possible to borrow it to display on the Heritage Day?
