It was certainly a weekend of two halves! Fabulous weather on Saturday with hoards of visitors sharing our annual community day and then came 3pm on Sunday!!! Gales and torrential rain made some very soggy scarecrows around the village. However, not to be deterred, by 6pm people came out again and enjoyed a glorious summer evening! Only in Britain!!
A million thanks to all at St Katharine’s who helped in any way – £2276 raised for church funds. The two schools and the two churches raised £9,500, and almost £3,000 was raised from the sale of programmes for the Scarecrow Community Fund. All of that will stay in the village and help to fund extra projects.
Special thanks to the 131+ families who made scarecrows and allowed the Festival to happen – the ideas you had were brilliant! 2nd – 3rd July 2016 are the dates for your diary when we can do it all again – the Queen’s 90th and the Olympics from Brazil for starters!
For people who use Facebook – the Festival FB page had 1853 “likes” in the two weeks before the event, and more than 18,000 views over the weekend!!!
Congratulations to our raffle winners:
The food hamper went to Jo on Vicarage Road West; the chocolate hamper was won by Eric Stuchbury; the cosmetic hamper went to Ann Lee from Horwich and the planter went to Chris Gill from the Wirral!
Don’t forget to send in your colour quiz and the draw for the free raffle from the back of your programmes will take place on Mondaynext 13th July in church at 7.30pm at the last of our Scarecrow get togethers for 2015. Do come along and let us have your feedback and for those who have not handed their programme sales money in yet – please bring it to that meeting. Thank you.
We’ll let you know when the photography winners are chosen. You can also see our photos of all the scarecrows in the gallery.
